International Competition | This Call For Papers is organized by Himpunan Mahasiswa Hubungan InternasionalUniversitas Indonesia in July to November 2016. IFPR or Indonesia Foreign Policy Review 2016 is an annual peer-reviewed paper competition aiming to enhance the understanding of relevant current issues related to Indonesia. IFPR seeks for papers that can provide in-depth, contextualized, and comprehensive analysis to give deep understanding or reflection towards Indonesian Foreign Policies. Indonesia Foreign Policy Review 2016 is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are citizens of ASEAN countries; and all majors are welcome to join.

TERMS AND CONDITION

INTRODUCTION

The 3rd Indonesia Foreign Policy Review (IFPR) opens submissions for its annual workshop that will be conducted in November 2016. IFPR is an annual peer-reviewed paper competition aiming to enhance the understanding of relevant current issues related to Indonesia. IFPR seeks for papers that can provide in-depth, contextualized, and comprehensive analysis to give deep understanding or reflection towards Indonesian Foreign Policies.

Submission of abstract must be completed online no later than 20 July 2016 23.59 GMT+7. To avoid technical problems, early submission is strongly encouraged.

THEME:
This year, IFPR 2016 is bringing forward the theme of:
“Actualizing Human Development:
Opportunities and Challenges for Indonesia within ASEAN Community”

You may write your papers under the given subtopics as follows:

  5. Individual & Community
    a) Inter-ethnic & Religious Conflict
    b) Protection of Indigenous People
    c) Terrorism, Radicalism, and Violent Extremism
    d) Human Traffickers & Forced Migrants
    e) Illegal, Unreported, Unregulated Fishing
    f) Illicit Drugs
    g) Sea Piracy

ELIGIBILITY:
IFPR 2016 is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are citizens of ASEAN countries; and all majors are welcome to join.

PAPER CRITERIA:

  1. Length : Essays must be 3000 5000 words (including data, tables, and graphics) in Indonesian or English.  Any words provided that exceed 5000 words will not be read or considered by the committee. It does not include the title page and reference page(s).
  2. Paper size : A4
  3. Margin : 3-3-3-3
  4. Font and Font Size : Times New Roman, 12.
  5. Papers must be relevant to the main topic; and content of the paper must refer to at least one news article, policy or statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kementerian Luar Negeri RI) website or official statement by the Indonesian President related to the chosen subtopics.
  6. Paper must consist of introduction or background; research methods or perspective ; analysis (including data) ; conclusion ; reference.
  7. In conclusion part, you have to emphasize your position on the policy, news, or the official statements that you have referred to.
  8. The paper must be an original piece of work and has never been published to any competition before. Any paper indicating plagiarism would be disqualified from the selection process.
  9. Any papers containing pictures, diagram, and tables must have title and relevant sources.
  10. Paper can be written by one person (individually) or two persons as a team (co-authors). But, more than two authors involved in a paper will be rejected.
  11. The committee also welcomes those who want to use or combine more than one subtopic within one submitted paper in IFPR 2016.
  12. Any references must refer to Chicago Citation Style.
  13. Any submitted paper should have abstract and the keywords to accompany the paper. The keywords and abstract are keys to ensure the readers of understanding your paper. It has to be onset of each paper and must be written in English.

August 17, 2016      : Notification of Top 9 Papers
October 10, 2016     : Final Version of 9 Selected Papers
November 24, 2016 : Presentation of Top 3 Papers & 3rd IFPR Workshop
